Porridge for snails
Cooking porridge for the snails is a fun, healthy and creative way to vary the solid food while giving the snail a greater variety of nutrition through a single meal. Below are a number of different recipes for snail porridge, where I have divided them into recipes with and without calcium supplements. I especially recommend the porridge with lime when the snail is growing or in periods when it has a greater need for lime supplementation.
Colorful summer porridge
Recipe
You need:
2-3 marigolds
2-3 dandelions
5 dandelion leaves
One deciliter of white cabbage
A lettuce leaf
Preparation: Put all the ingredients in a blender. Mix until it becomes a mushy consistency and then mix around. Serve the right amount for the snail and save any leftovers for later. The porridge also works fine to freeze if you want it later.
Candy porridge
Ten-15 cucumber slices
Two lettuce leaves
Pieces of turnip
Preparation: Put all the ingredients in a blender. Mix until it becomes a mushy consistency and then mix around. Serve the right amount for the snail and save any leftovers for later.
Fruit porridge with seeds
Ingredients:
Two strawberries
Pieces of watermelon
Sunflower seeds
Snails can eat several different types of seeds, such as sunflower seeds, but these should then have been softened in water for a while before they are given, as this facilitates decomposition. Therefore, they are perfect to have in the snail porridge.
Preparation: Put all the ingredients in a blender. Mix until it becomes a mushy consistency and then mix around. Serve the right amount for the snail and save any leftovers for later.
